9/9/26

The VYCE DEMO has been officially approved by Steam, and just moments ago I uploaded the build that is set to release in one day and some change. Before I hit that green upload button, I want to take a moment to reflect upon how far we’ve come.

Since “leaking” an alpha version a month ago, I have continued working on the game every single day, and even this morning I was tinkering with the sudden death mode in multiplayer. The very last change I made was fixing a QR code that I had on the main menu, linking to a feedback survey. The QR code had expired because I used qr.io instead of creating a static QR code, and I got a notification via email that someone scanned my expired code. I panicked and immediately fixed the mistake, pushed it to github, but despite that the game was still approved regardless. When I got home, I rebuilt it on all 3 of my laptops then uploaded that build, the official version 1.0.0.

I honestly didn’t even think it would get approved given the nature of the game, but the turnaround time was faster than I expected. I had a contingency plan where I’d post some unhinged rant instead of a wholesome blog post and distribute it via this website, I was even drafting up social media posts apologizing for the delay. Now, I could release it at the drop of a hat if I wanted to, and while the process to get here was brutal, it feels like I’ve finally gotten to a state where I’m ready. Words can’t describe how I feel right now.

It’s not over yet, as this is only the demo. I am going to channel my energy into promoting it, I don’t intend on doing anything to the current build until I start receiving player feedback. Next week I will be debuting the game at Granite State Comicon in the Gaming Lounge, right next to the entrance. There will be exclusive “Vanilla Plains” scented candles, exclusive offers, and two machines running VYCE on an LCD and a CRT monitor. I want to make more videos as well, but none are being worked on at the moment.

I hope to release the complete version of VYCE by the end of next year. There may or may not be a kickstarter, that is to be determined based on how the demo is received. I will do one more update to the demo build around the time of Steam Next Fest, and that’s probably what the next blog post will be about. I have a good idea of how the rest of the game will play out, but the content in the demo is everything that there is so far. 77 VYCE, infinite possibilities, 100 radio tracks from two dozen underground artists (alongside 47 songs in the OST), campaign, multiplayer, and more. Thank you for your support, and have fun playing my game.
